Quit Running

picture this:

a busy hood…everyone rushing somewhere

then somehow…there’s this house

its all up i flames

before everyone rushes all around to help…play the scene in slow motion

that part right after they realize there’s a fire…

see how everything seems to stop

no more trading…. no more playing…

just that moment when everyone has stopped in their tracks

everyone is watching the flames…

isn’t that how we are sometimes?

not when a building is on fire…when something needs helping…needs fixing

when your kids need you to be at home more…

when your wife needs you to listen more…

when your hubby needs you to understand him more…

when your friend needs you to bail them out…

when your past wants to pull you back…

when your family is falling apart…

when your studies are going down the drain…

when your mind is reeling out of control…

that’s when we stop…and stare

watch the fire burning

waiting for someone else to take the first step…

running away from the scene…hoping if you stay away long enough

it will die down on its own

well…sometimes we need to stop running and face our fires

fix our relationships…mend our broken lives…pull ourselves together

coz everyone else is staring too…waiting for you to make the first move

its scary…to be the one to face the fire first

but its your fire…if you don’t face it…who will?

we gotta stop running from our country…our friendships…family….relationships…

and face the fire…all we need to do is take the first step

and the play button kicks in

others rush in to help…

lets stop running…

we gotta face the fire sometime anyway…

better earlier when there’s still a lot we can save

never saw anyone make much use of ash…

lets stop running…we’re the ones to make the change

quit running…

only you can face your fire…n kill it before it kills you.
